Text – Music Interpreter : Chris Yu

Having seen my fellow counselor Jean-Luc Beaubien’s “Poetry Painter,” I decided to expand off of his idea of using a computer program to convert text into some artform and created a javascript program to convert a string of text into a short melody.

The program works by taking your text and getting the index of every letter and playing a corresponding note in a randomly generated rhythm.

In painting, art that seems random and sporadic can look beautiful. In music, the result is… interesting.┬áNevertheless, it is quite a bit of fun to type in your name or long copypastas to hear the result.

(To run the program, just unzip the file and open the .html file with your browser of choice. I have not tested with other browsers than chrome, but it should work on most standard browsers)
